HORIZONS
A working body of research, writing, open questions and application at the edges of human-centered design, artificial intelligence, business transformation and craft.
Some is NOW in market. Some of it is STILL forming. ALL of it feeds my practice.
Everything here is laid at 3 levels of distance: 1. The near work is proven and in market. 2. The next work is the direction my work is taking. 3. The transformational work are the questions I am navigating through in real-time.

The advisory position I am building toward: human-centered AI as a business discipline, not a delivery function.

Transformation
Where intelligence meets craft, culture and character. Early, unresolved, and the most interesting thing on this page.
1 open question
Four fields I work across. Individually they are well mapped. The value I keep finding is not inside any one of them.
The work worth doing sits in the overlap where a business question turns out to be a trust question, or where a craft decision turns out to be a question about what a machine should not be allowed to decide.
Intelligence is not a fourth direction here — it is the whole field, and everything sits inside it. Each line of work opens three petals, one into each territory, and how far a petal reaches is how much of that territory it carries. The dotted arcs are the three horizons: what is in market furthest out, open questions nearest the centre. Each line of work below has its own page.
Added to as each line develops. Published work links out; forming work says so plainly.
Taken together, this collection is becoming a thesis of its own. It maps the relationship between people and intelligent technology as a web of 109 threads and 309 links, decoded from three bodies of my work: the doctoral thesis, the Designing Intelligence compendium and my published articles.
Centre
People, the exchange and intelligent technology, and the loop of meaning, trust and care between them.
Dimension
Emotion, cognition and embodiment as three overlapping spheres.
Dimension
How often a thread recurs across the work, and the span it acts on.
Dimension
Where each thread lands in the business, with the empty places left visible.
I publish thinking before it is finished, because the questions that matter get better in conversation and worse in isolation.
